Trading company Bartels-Langness headed for the future with Consist and innoWake

Cooperation of Consist and innoWake in modernization and development projects

Consist and innoWake are bundling their strengths in a comprehensive collaboration. Companies are now becoming independent of technologies and platforms as a result of the IT solutions applied to modernize mature systems, the ability to work with Natural even in the Eclipse environment and the focus placed on model-driven software development. innoWake provides companies with suitable software solutions, Consist provides human resources, and both can contribute the expertise in both mature and modern technologies for appropriate projects. Bartels-Langness is using this partnership for its own future-oriented software development.

Kiel and Ulm – Consist, the Kiel IT company for custom applications and selected software solutions, and the Ulm software company innoWake, specialized in the integration of old and new technologies, have extended their partnership with a comprehensive collaboration.
"In modernization and development projects, we can now also offer our customers the software products of our partner innoWake," says Consist Managing Director Martin Lochte-Holtgreven. "The customer benefits from end-to-end management: innoWake provides the appropriate solution, while our experts implement it and train the users in its use. If necessary, we can also operate the application and handle maintenance." This prepares companies for the future, even if GUI (Graphical User Interface) technology or their overall IT strategy changes.
"It's important to us that an interface isn't just 'polished up', but that it offers the user increased utility and convenience. Our solutions open up Natural applications and make it easier for companies to start down the path to a service-oriented architecture," explains Thorsten Bernecker, Managing Director of innoWake. For instance, mature programming languages like Natural can be used in the established, modern Eclipse development environment, with a significantly greater scope of services. Any external service is now easy to integrate into applications. Automated modernization can generate user interfaces as either Rich clients (Java Swing) or as Web clients (AJAX).
The basis for these capabilities is model-driven software development, which implements a strict separation of technical information in the model from the technologies used by the generators. That ensures flexibility for the future. And this makes companies independent of technologies and platforms.

Trading company Bartels-Langness benefits from cooperation

Companies like the Bartels-Langness group take advantage from this cooperation to benefit their own software development. Bartels-Langness is one of the 15 largest grocery trading companies in Germany, and has relied on Consist Software Solutions in IT projects for many years. In the current project being carried out together by Consist and innoWake, the trading company is using tools from the innoWake's maxenso product family to implement the invoice auditing application (soaconnector, applicationbuilder, natclipse.) The application is getting a new, more modern layout; moreover, the Natural services are integrated using the powerful soaconnector. 
Using innoWake tools, Consist is also building a generic framework for the efficient, model-driven development of future applications. "Based on the model, any future front-end technology can be embedded without modifying the application. That keeps the path to the future open for all of us," explains Günter Heppes, IT Manager at Bartels-Langness in reference to the additional usefulness of the new solutions.
