Consist receives award for professionalism and commitments

Finalist in the "Großer Preis des Mittelstandes"

On September 26, 2009, the Kiel IT company Consist Software Solutions was nominated as finalist for the Schleswig-Holstein/Hamburg region in the "Großer Preis des Mittelstandes" competition (Grand Prix of Small and Medium Business). The competition initiative was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in September, 2008.

Kiel – "To be one of the finalists is a great honor for us and evidence of our many years of successful work. Our employees have made this success possible with their high degree of commitment for our customers and the region", says Martin Lochte-Holtgreven, Managing Director of Consist. The Kiel company, which specializes in custom software, employs about 170 people in IT projects throughout Germany, and has 25 years of experience in information technology.

The honor was awarded by Dr. Helfried Schmidt, Chairman of the Oskar-Patzelt Foundation, at the prize gala on September 26, 2009 at the Maritim Hotel in Düsseldorf. "The company's strengths lie in their know-how, professionalism, reliability, and commitment".

Consist Software Solutions was nominated by KiWi Kieler Wirtschafts- und Strukturentwicklungs GmbH. Among the competition criteria were the overall development of the company, the creation or preservation of jobs and training positions, modernization and innovation, commitment in the region as well as service, customer relationships, and marketing.

About the “Großer Preis des Mittelstandes”

The “Großer Preis des Mittelstandes” organized by the Oskar-Patzelt Foundation has been held each year since 1995. In 2009, 3,366 companies from more than a thousand communities, institutions, and unions were nominated. The competition publicly honors small- to medium-sized enterprises as a fountain of hope for the future and as an economic factor, supporting the formation of networks. Examples of success are popularized.

Medium-sized companies exhibiting greater-than-average development in their region and their field are the subject matter of this competition. In the twelve regions of the competition, regional juries and a final jury decide which companies are awarded the prize.

The "Großer Preis des Mittelstandes" is intended to support a culture of self-reliance according to the motto "Healthy small and medium-sized businesses – strong economy – more jobs". Among the other goals of the renowned prize are respect and recognition for entrepreneurial virtues like responsibility, hard work, and inventiveness.

In September, 2008, the competition initiative was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.

About the Oskar-Patzelt-Foundation

The Oskar-Patzelt Foundation, headquartered in Leipzig, has sponsored the Germany-wide competition for 15 years, together with chambers of industry and commerce (IHK), chambers of crafts (HWK), the Federal Association of the Services Industry (BDWi), associations of entrepreneurs and employers (UV, AGV), regional associations of the self-employed/German Trade and Crafts Association (BDS/DGV), the Euro-pean Association for the Self-Employed (BVD/CEDI), the German Association for Small and Medium-sized Businesses (BVMW), government bodies, municipalities, and communities, as well as in cooperation with ministries, institutions, and the media.

The foundation, an independent citizen initiative, is organized entirely on a volunteer basis and financed exclusively privately. More than 150 people from all areas of commercial life are at present actively engaged in the organization's committees.

Since 2008, the Mittelstandsforum Deutschland (German Forum for Medium-Sized Companies) has supported the work of the foundation with ideas and funds in order to give its work a broader basis.
