Consist appreciates the 1st Kiel Business Informatics Day (Tag der Wirtschaftsinformatik)
Facing the technical workforce shortage
Consist supports the IT interest of students – including being a popular contact at the 1st Kiel Business Informatics Day.
Kiel – Consist Software Solutions participated in the 1st Kiel Business Informatics Day on December 9, 2009 with a booth at the Kiel University of Applied Sciences. On the first Business Informatics Day, an event jointly organized by the Christian Albrechts University, the Kiel University of Applied Sciences and the Wirtschaftsakademie Schleswig-Holstein, students could obtain information about the job descriptions and perspectives of business computer specialists.
"We appreciate it when young people show early enthusiasm for the IT field, because for us, they are the potential colleagues of tomorrow. It's true that we are also experiencing labor shortages in the IT area, but our collaboration with regional colleges always allows us to find good new hires," explains Martin Lochte-Holtgreven, Managing Director of Consist Software Solutions.
The three institutions of the Kiel University of Applied Sciences, the Christian-Albrechts University in Kiel, and the Berufsakademie (College of Co-operative Education) of the Wirtschaftsakademie Schleswig-Holstein presented the bachelor's degree course in business informatics. In addition to presentations and a demo lecture "Business Informatics at your Fingertips," interested informatics students had the opportunity to talk to practitioners about the profession of business IT specialist. Different Kiel IT companies – including Consist Software Solutions – presented themselves in the form of a trade show.
Consist specializes in the development and maintenance of individual software, and will continue to hire additional qualified software specialists.
"Even today, one still encounters the unfortunate opinion that (business) computer specialists are primarily introverts who only communicate at work with their computers in bits and bytes. This is entirely unfair! Working at an IT service company like Consist means continually changing, exciting projects and new challenges both in content and in technology, in entirely different sectors, like industry, the media, or banking," clarifies Ines von Jagemann, Managing Director of Consist Software Solutions. "Our work almost always includes direct customer contact. I would still choose IT studies myself, and I can only recommend them to incoming students due to the many opportunities they offer," says von Jagemann.
