Kiel - During the Konferenz Bahntechnik (railway technology conference) at the Wissenschaftszentrum in Kiel on February 7, 2019, as part of the focus on "Future prospects of railway technology in Schleswig-Holstein," Asmus Hammer, Senior Manager for Digital Transformation at Consist, delivered a short, practice-oriented presentation on the topic of "Increasing the quality and punctuality of railway operations with Big Data and AI" at the round table on "Digitalization and railway technology 4.0." His presentation showed that Big Data has already become an indispensable tool for railway operations, and that artificial intelligence (AI) - specifically predictive maintenance - can already be used for better vehicle availability. AI includes the ability of IT systems to handle tasks which previously could only be accomplished with human intelligence. These include, for example, the ability to learn from the past, and to draw conclusions from this experience for future developments.
Consist is a specialist in digital transformation, IT security and managed services. The IT company, with its headquarters in Kiel, is active in various digitalization projects in the railway sector, including digitalizing the maintenance of freight cars and improved scheduling.
