Consist Group marks its 20-year anniversary

Kiel – Consist Software Solutions GmbH has been a member of the international Consist World Group since 1 January 1995. "I am very grateful that our stable and ever supportive owner has enabled us to pursue great opportunities to design our business with a high level of autonomy. This provides me certainty to be able to continue looking ahead with optimism and trust," notes Martin Lochte-Holtgreven, who has been Managing Director at Consist Software Solutions since 1995.

Consist Germany has been an active player in the market for more than 30 years; it has been a member of the Consist Group for 20 of those years. Turnover and employee headcount at Consist Software Solutions have multiplied since becoming a member of the Consist Group. While the company used to have some 40 employees as at 1 January 1995 and generated turnover of EUR 1.7 million in 1995, Consist Software Solutions now has 137 employees and turnover of EUR 20.3 million (2013). Plans call for hiring additional experts during 2015. The company reports sound demand in all three business segments – software development (projects), application maintenance and system support (Managed Services) as well as software products (products) – and expects stable growth once more for the current year.

Milestones in company development in the course of its 20-year membership in the Consist Group

In addition to the high level of reliability and quality, a major factor in Consist's success is always keeping pace with the times, identify changing customer needs early on and support them with new services and IT solutions. 

Current milestones include Consist's successful entry in Big Data projects for which there is growing customer demand. Companies can store and analyze large amounts of data by using Big Data technologies. 

In 2011, Consist's excellent performance and exemplary development was acknowledged with the renowned award "Großer Preis des Mittel-standes". This coveted award not only honors business successes but also the company in its entirety and in its role in society.

Modawi software was successfully positioned as Germany's leading "eANV" (electronic waste records procedure) solution via Consist subsidiary Consist ITU, acquired in 2004. Electronic documentation of hazardous waste disposal has been mandatory since 1 April 2010.

Consist's key competence is the development of individual software. The Kiel-based IT specialist realized early on that providing software support is equally important and that companies are increasingly relying on external support from reliable partners in this field as well. To this end, Consist developed the concept of Managed Services which includes application management and maintenance as well as system management and operation, and has successfully established these services on the market.

Overview of company history

The business was first established as a profit center within the IT de-partment of Krupp MaK Maschinenbau in 1983 under the designation MaK DATA SYSTEM. The spin-off of MaK DATA SYSTEM Kiel GmbH as an independent subsidiary was effected in 1994.

On 1 January 1995, Consist International Inc., New York, acquired the IT service provider as the sole shareholder. The Consist World Group based in New York, has global branches in 12 countries across North America, Latin America, Europe and the Middle East. Consist Software Solutions is the European headquarters of the Consist World Group. MaK DATA SYSTEM changed its name to Consist Software Solutions GmbH in January 2008.
