Splunk again confirmed as the leading software platform for IT Operations Analytics

Almost a third of the world's IT operations analytics are running the software Splunk. This is the result of the current market report of the International Data Corporation, the international market research company for information technology. According to the IDC report, the exact market share of Splunk is 28.5 percent. Where does this success come from?

San Francisco - Kiel - Today's IT is moving in the field of ever-increasing heterogeneous data volumes and frequently changing demands on the IT environment, due to dynamic business processes. The complexity of the data structure is due not least to its structure, which is fed on the one hand from the network and on the other from applications. At the same time, the demands on data evaluations are increasing, to optimize, if possible in real time, both the internal IT service as well as all business processes. The next step is the forward-looking control so that there are no longer any IT failures or forecasts of future customer behavior become possible, too.

Break down data barriers
This is where IT Operations Analytics comes into play. ITOA solutions are able to collect and analyze data streams from different sources. However, few solutions can make this as comprehensive as Splunk. The IT service provider Consist has used Splunk as a big data technology for several years. "We chose Splunk because, unlike many other vendors, it is based on the platform idea, which can represent the entire infrastructure of a company by data technology. This makes it easily expandable to include the desired functionalities, for example, not only as SIEM, but also for predictive analytics, "said Martin Lochte-Holtgreven, Managing Director of Consist Software Solutions GmbH and Splunk Partner since 2012. In customer projects, the company very often gets the confirma-tion that this software platform is pleasingly easy to handle and quickly generates additional values.

According to this the IDC report states, “The company [Splunk] achieved rapid growth driven by expansion in log management and analysis capabilities. The number of data sources, data volumes, and use cases con-tinued to expand driving increased customer adoption. Splunk has invested in solutions for Hadoop, mobile, real-time wire, and security. Splunk supports pre-packaged content and visualization for a variety of use cases including IT operations and APM. This is making Splunk-based analytics available to an increasing variety of IT and business users.”

Analytics technologies are advancing
Flexible analytics technologies are becoming increasingly important for business-critical processes. On the basis of automated log and real-time data analyzes the effort for error and threat search is greatly reduced. Problems in the here and now can not only be turned off, but behavior, whether from machine or customer, can be increasingly securely prognosticated.
