Consist donates to the "Kieler Netzwerk gegen Kinderarmut"

The IT service provider Consist Software Solutions is supporting the "Kieler Netzwerk gegen Kinderarmut" (Kiel Network Against Child Poverty) with a donation of 4,000 euros. For the network, the donation comes at just the right time.

Kiel – Consist Software Solutions has donated four thousand euros to the Kiel Network Against Child Poverty. "We’re absolutely thrilled about Consist’s donation and can really put it to good use. It will help us co-organize the activities surrounding World Children's Day on September 20, 2025, here in Kiel. Without this support, our network would not have had sufficient project funds for this year," says Debby Detlefsen, Coordinator of the Kiel Network Against Child Poverty.

World Children’s Day is celebrated once a year and in 2025 will be held under the theme "Children’s Rights – Building Blocks for Democracy!" It is observed in over 145 countries around the world and aims to raise awareness about children's rights and their needs. Many cities host events for children on this day, such as family festivals and hands-on activities.

Consist Software Solutions has long been socially engaged. "As a company, we embrace our social responsibility and donate to different organizations with regional ties," explains Jörg Hansen, Managing Director of Consist Software Solutions GmbH, based in Kiel. Employees of the IT company vote in a survey to determine which organization will receive the donation each year. In previous years, Consist’s corporate donations have supported the Kiel chapter of the "Deutscher Kinderschutzbund Ortsverband Kiel e. V." (German Child Protection Association), the "Tafel Kiel" (Kiel Food Bank), and the "Hospiz Kieler Förde" (Kieler Förde Hospice).

About the Kiel Network Against Child Poverty

The Kiel Network Against Child Poverty was founded in 2007 by various representatives from politics, public administration, nonprofit organizations, and associations. Its mission is to fight child poverty and improve the living conditions of disadvantaged children and families. Concrete activities carried out by the network include the "Wishing Star" campaign and in-house workshops for educational teams and school classes to promote poverty-sensitive attitudes. The network also offers families affected by poverty the chance to take a five-day family retreat.

According to the network’s website, Kiel has an above-average child poverty rate – with nearly one in four children considered to be living in poverty. Additional data can be found in the 2024 Social Report – Kiel’s 15th official social report.
